Big Beams Timber Frames

We are excited to announce our Adult Classes for the Summer of 2024. Please click on the links below to find out more about each class.

Note: Unlike past years, our Expanded Class will not focus on Scribe techniques. Rather, both classes will focus on a single frame project that will be raised on Saturday August 10th. Week 1 (Boot Camp) will focus on multiple ways to layout and cut mortise and tenon joinery as well as an introductory description of frame design and engineering. Week 2 (Expanded) will focus on more challenging joinery such as Wedged Half-Dovetail joinery and Scarf Joinery. Although students will learn a great deal during both weeks, the most comprehensive understanding will come from attending both weeks ($100 discount). Both weeks will include tours of local frames built by previous students.
